Done-for-you video menus · New Jersey
Your menu becomes
your best server.
Every dish plays as a short video. A built-in guide helps each guest pick. And you finally see which plates get watched and which get skipped. We build the whole thing for you and keep it current, so you get the upside without the work.
We build your menu for free, starting with a sample from your real dishes. You only pay for the trailers you want and what goes on the tables.
Tap a dish to play its trailer. Every dish has a trailer.
Your best plate is the one nobody can picture.
A menu is a list of names, so guests order the three things they already recognize. The plate you actually want to move just sits there. And when the night is over you have no idea what they looked at or what they skipped.
Smart Menu is that better menu, built for you and kept current.
Earn more. Save time. Stop guessing.
Three things a printed menu can never do, working for you at every table.
Sell more of what you actually want to sell
- Every dish plays
- The sear, the pour, the pull. A few seconds, muted, nothing your dining room can hear. Guests stop reading names and start choosing with their eyes, which is how the unfamiliar plate finally gets a shot.
- Help Me Choose
- Your server cannot be at every table at once. It asks a couple of quick questions, points the guest to a dish that fits, and always offers a Surprise Me. It is the suggestion that never gets skipped on a busy Friday.
- Pairs well with
- You decide which drink or side goes with each dish. The menu makes that suggestion at every table, every time. No script to teach, no turnover to undo it.
- Featured and Special Offers
- Push the plate with the best margin to the top of the menu today. Change it tomorrow.
The work you stop doing
- One menu, mobile and print
- Change a price once. Your digital menu updates and a print-ready PDF comes out the other side in three formats, ready for US Letter. No designer to email, no layout to redo, no paper menu quietly showing last season’s price.
- 86 it in one tap
- Sold out of the branzino at 7pm? Mark it from your phone. It fades on every table at once and drops to the bottom of its category, then comes back on its own at midnight. Nobody has to remember to switch it back.
- Six more languages
- Dish names and descriptions in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, German, or Italian, generated in one pass and never overwriting your original. Guests’ phones pick the language on their own.
- Allergens and diets, on the dish
- Nuts, shellfish, soy and sesame flagged where guests are looking. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, keto and spicy filters built in. One less question your staff has to get right from memory.
You have never had numbers on your menu. Now you do
- Dishes with zero views
- Prep, inventory and menu space you are paying for that nobody is even asking about. It is the cheapest menu cut you will ever make.
- The scan to finish funnel
- Scanned, viewed, played, completed. Where interest drops off, dish by dish.
- Peak hours, busiest days, category interest
- Staff and promote against what actually happens, not what you remember happening.
- Private guest feedback
- Most unhappy guests never ask for a manager. They pay, they leave, and they write it up in the parking lot. Every table gets a private line to you: a rating, a comment, their name or anonymous, and a box to check if they want you to call.
- One PDF report
- Dated and exportable, ready to hand to your chef or your partner. Average rating, bounce rate, dishes per visit and pairing clicks included.
One honest note: Smart Menu measures attention, not tickets. It doesn't touch your POS. It tells you what guests want to look at. You decide what to do about it.
We build it, and we keep it.
Send us your current menu, a PDF or even a photo, and our team builds the whole thing at no cost: your profile, categories, dishes, prices, dietary and allergen labels, your branding, and your QR code. Need the food filmed? Our local creators shoot each dish for $20, photo included. You review everything before it goes live, and the only thing you'll ever touch is marking a dish sold out.
What you would normally have to do
- Hire a menu designer
- Book a food photographer
- Hire a videographer
- Upload and organize every dish
- Set up the QR code
- Figure out any software
All of it, done for you.
ByLocal Student Ambassador Program
Your food gets filmed by a kid from your own town.
The trailers on your menu are not shot by a crew flown in for the day. They are shot by local students in the ByLocal Student Ambassador Program, getting hands-on experience in marketing, communication, and community engagement on real work, for real businesses, in the town they grew up in.
They come in, film the food, and sometimes sit down to hear how the place started. They walk out with a portfolio, a line on a resume, and a professional connection that a summer job never gives them.
Students get the experience. You get the visibility. The town gets a little more connected.
Shoots start at $200 per visit, which covers 10 dishes. When your menu changes, the same ambassador usually comes back for the new ones.
The student
Real client work, a portfolio, and a resume that says they shot for a business people in town actually know.
Your restaurant
Your dishes on film for the price of a couple of entrées, without booking a production company.
The town
One more student with a reason to stay close, and one more local place that looks as good online as it tastes.
Setup, priced in the open
We build the menu free. You pay for what goes on the table.
Entering your whole menu is on us. Three things carry a cost, and you decide how much of each you want. The check adds up as you go, and the subscription is a flat $49 a month once your menu is live.
A short muted video of the dish, filmed in your kitchen by a student from our Ambassador Program. The photo comes out of the same shoot, so you are covered on both. A visit starts at 10 dishes, and most kitchens begin with the plates they most want to move.

Why restaurants choose Smart Menu over a basic QR menu.
“I already have a QR menu.”
A basic QR menu is a PDF on a screen. It can’t show the food moving, it can’t help a guest decide, and it can’t tell you one thing about the night you just had. Yours would.
“My servers already explain the dishes.”
Your best one does. Not every server, not at every table, not at 7:40 on a Friday. And none of them leave you data. The menu explains every dish, to everyone, every time, and remembers what people looked at.
“Can guests order from it?”
No, and that’s on purpose. Smart Menu is a menu, not a point of sale. Guests watch, decide, and order from your staff the way they always have. Nothing to integrate, nothing to retrain, no commission on the check.
“I don’t have time to set all this up.”
You don’t set anything up. Send us your menu, we build it, you review it, it goes live. The only thing you’ll ever touch is marking a dish sold out, and that’s one tap.
“I don’t want to hire a photographer.”
You don’t have to. A student from our Ambassador Program comes to you and films it, $20 per dish, and the photo comes out of the same shoot. You pick which dishes are worth it, and you can use content you already have.
“Won’t the videos annoy my dining room?”
They’re muted and they only play when a guest opens a dish. No sound, no autoplay wall, nothing anyone can hear.
“Why is it monthly and not a one-time build?”
Because a menu isn’t a file, it’s a surface people use every night. Prices change, dishes come and go, and the attention data only exists while the menu is live. Month one it knows nothing about your guests. By month six it can tell you which plate they watch and which one they quit halfway through.
“What if I need to change a price?”
You change it yourself. One place, seconds, live on every table before your next seat sits down. The print-ready PDF comes out updated too, so your paper menu never quietly contradicts the digital one. No designer in the loop.
Across New Jersey
We're a drive away, not a support ticket.
We build menus for independent restaurants anywhere in New Jersey, and we film the food in your own kitchen. No call center, no ticket queue: you get a person who knows your name and your menu.
Straight talk on the map: building your menu happens wherever you are in the state. Filming is in person, and our ambassadors work out of the Summit area today (New Providence, Summit, Berkeley Heights, Chatham, and neighbors), travelling further for shoots as the program grows. Tell us your town and we'll tell you when we can be there.

Questions, answered.
- Do I have to build the menu myself?
- No, and building it costs you nothing. Send us your current menu and our team creates the whole thing at no charge: categories, dishes, descriptions, prices, dietary and allergen labels, your logo and colors, and your QR code. If you have photos or videos we load them. If you do not, our local creators can film each dish for $20, photo included. You review everything before it goes live.
- What is a video menu?
- A video menu replaces the usual list of dish names with a short video of each dish. Guests scan a QR code at the table, watch the food play on their phone, and order from your staff. No app to install.
- Can guests order or pay from the menu?
- No, and that is deliberate. Smart Menu is a menu, not a point of sale. Guests watch, decide, and order from your staff the way they always have. There is nothing to integrate with your POS and no commission on the check.
- Do my guests need to download an app?
- No. The menu opens in the phone browser straight from the QR code. Guests just scan and watch.
- Do the videos have sound?
- No. Every dish plays muted, and only when a guest opens that dish. Nothing your dining room can hear.
- What if a guest cannot decide what to order?
- Smart Menu has a built-in guide called Help Me Choose. The guest answers a couple of quick prompts about what they feel like eating and the menu recommends the dish that fits. There is always a Surprise Me option too.
- What do the analytics actually tell me?
- QR scans, which dishes get opened, which videos get watched to the end, and the four steps from scan to finish. Also your peak hours, busiest days, average rating, and the dishes nobody opened at all. It measures attention rather than tickets, since it does not connect to your POS, so it tells you what guests want to look at and you decide what to do about it.
- Why is this a subscription instead of a one-time build?
- Because a menu is not a file, it is a surface people use every night. Prices change, dishes come and go, and the attention data only exists while the menu is live. Month one it knows nothing about your guests. By month six it can tell you which plate they watch and which one they quit halfway through. At $49 a month it is meant to sit quietly in your costs and keep working.
- I do not have photos or videos of my food. Now what?
- We handle it. A student from the ByLocal Student Ambassador Program comes to your restaurant and films each dish for $20, and the photo comes out of the same shoot. You choose how many dishes are worth filming, so most kitchens start with the plates they most want to move. You can also use your own content.
- Who actually films my food?
- A local student in the ByLocal Student Ambassador Program. The program gives students hands-on experience in marketing, communication, and community engagement while helping promote the businesses in their own town. They create the content, and some of them interview owners and cover community events too. They build real skills, a portfolio, and connections. You get your food on film for a fraction of a production company, and the town gets a little more connected. Visits start at 10 dishes, which is $200.
- Can I still offer a printed menu?
- Yes. Smart Menu generates a print-ready PDF in three formats, standard, bifold, and table tent, from the same dishes, prices, and labels in your digital menu. Change a price and generate a fresh one, without a designer.
- Can my menu be in more than one language?
- Yes. We can generate your dish names and descriptions in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, German, and Italian in one pass, without ever overwriting your original. Guests can switch languages themselves and the menu also reads the language their phone is set to.
- How do I mark something sold out?
- One tap in your dashboard. The dish fades on every table at once and moves to the bottom of its category, then comes back on its own the next day.
- Can guests leave feedback anonymously?
- Yes. Guests can send private feedback right from the menu, choose to leave their name or stay anonymous, and ask the restaurant to follow up. It is a private channel, and it does not restrict honest public reviews.
- What kind of restaurant is Smart Menu for?
- Independent restaurants, cafes, pizzerias, steakhouses, sushi spots, bakeries, and bars, especially ones whose food is visual or unfamiliar. It works for a single location or a few.
- How much does Smart Menu cost?
- The subscription is $49 a month, one plan, everything in it. Building your menu is free. Only three things carry a one-time setup cost: dish trailers at $20 each with the photo included, QR table stickers at $3 each, and Google review cards at $5 each. You choose how many of each, so you see the whole number before you commit. Filming starts at 10 dishes, which is $200.
- Which areas do you serve?
- All of New Jersey, North Jersey, Central Jersey, the Jersey Shore, and South Jersey. Building your menu is done remotely, so where you are in the state does not matter. Filming is the part that happens in person: our Student Ambassadors are based in the Summit area today, covering New Providence, Summit, Berkeley Heights, Chatham and neighboring towns, and they travel further for shoots as the program grows. Tell us your town and we will tell you when we can be there.
